How to Prepare for Your Brand Photography Session

You’ve booked your brand photography session…hooray! That’s a big step, and I’m so glad you’re here. Whether this is your first shoot or your fifth, a little preparation goes a long way. My goal is to make the process feel joyful, natural, and 100% aligned with who you are.

Here’s how to get ready for a session that feels like you and gives you images you can’t wait to use.

1. Embrace the SuperFunkyPenguin Style

My photography style is natural, authentic, and joyfully you. No stiff poses. No staged smiles. Just real moments that reflect your brand’s energy and personality. You don’t have to perform, you just have to be.

2. Fill Out Your Brand Workbook

As soon as you book, you’ll receive a brand workbook from me. This isn’t just admin, it’s a creative tool to help us shape your visual story. Inside, you’ll reflect on:

  • What your brand stands for

  • How you want people to feel when they see your photos

  • The specific shots, outfits, and props you’d like to include

By the time you finish it, we’ll both have a clear roadmap for the shoot.

3. Prep a Prop Box

Once we’ve mapped out your story, it’s time to gather the visuals that will help bring it to life. I recommend creating a “prop box” with:

  • 2–3 outfit options that reflect your brand (and make you feel confident)

  • Objects you use in your work—laptop, camera, notebook, product samples

  • Personal touches like a favourite mug, book, or flowers in your brand colours

Having a box ready to go makes the day smooth and gives us variety.

4. Join Our Pre‑Shoot Planning Call

We’ll have a relaxed call before your session to:

  • Finalise location and logistics

  • Walk through your outfit and prop choices

  • Refine your shot list and overall vision

  • Answer any last-minute questions

You’ll also receive a shoot plan so you know exactly what to expect.

5. Choose a Location That Feels Right

I shoot in a variety of locations, my flexible studio space in Wrington, North Somerset, or on location around Bristol and beyond. Whether it’s your home office, a creative space, or outdoors, we’ll choose somewhere that supports your story and makes you feel at ease.

6. Relax on the Day

You don’t need to know how to pose. I’ll gently guide you throughout the session, using prompts and natural movement so the images feel effortless. My job is to capture your energy, personality, and brilliance, not force you into something you’re not.
